    FITOU VILLAGE:
    Fitou is a famous wine village offering ample opportunity to sample the local wine in it's many village caves. There are also three great restaurants within a few minutes walk of the villa. All serve superb food and offer a unique French atmosphere. At the Vidal restaurant you can indulge in an amazing seafood and cold meats buffet whilst being entertained by the Grandfather on his saxaphone....a truly unforgettable experience! At Cave D'Agnes restaurant, a converted barn, the food tends to be traditionally French with options such as foie gras, oysters, goats cheese, steak rossini and seabass.
    There is also a medieval chateau within a 10 minute walk that has a museum, gift shop and bar where tapas is served. Live music is performed most weekends during the mid and high season.
    The village also offers three additional restaurants, a pizza take-away, a tabac, a supermarket and a doctors surgery.
    There is a football stadium, a hard surface football/basketball court with a small climbing wall, a table tennis table, a children's playground, a bouladrome and a tennis court.
    The village comes to life in July and August when you can experience regular musical evenings outside the local bar; the annual wine fete at the beginning of August and the twice yearly 'sardinade', a traditional festival where hundreds of sardines are cooked over an open fire and served with French bread and lots of red wine!

    The Mediterranean beaches of Leucate and La Franqui are just 10 minutes drive away and the beautiful town of Perpignan with it's array of pavement bars, restauarants and shops can be reached within 20 minutes by car, Also ski resorts in the Pyrenees Mountains are just 90 minutes by car.

    LANGUEDOC_ROUSSILLON:
    Languedoc-Roussillon is France's southernmost region borderred by Spain, Andorra and the Pyrenees Mountains and boasts everything from mountains and rivers to lakes and the Mediterranean Sea.
    The region has a long coastline of virtually uninterrupted white, sandy beaches and picturesque fishing villages and ports. Watersports including wind/kite surfing, sailing, canoeing, diving and water skiing can be found on the coast whilst activities such as cannyoning, mountain biking, rock climbing, horse riding, white water rafting, hiking and golf are also available nearby. The ski resorts of the Pyrenees mountains are just a 90 minute drive away.
    The local area offers lots of family activities and days out such as the underground caves at Ville-Franche (40mins), the little yellow train that travels up the Pyrenees mountains (40 mins), a fantastic African safari park with over 3000 animals (15 mins) as well as a whole host of adventure and water parks (20 mins).
    The region is littered with historical monuments, abbeys and castles and boasts several UNESCO World Heritage sites: the Pont du Gard, the Canal du Midi, the medieval walled city at Carcassonne and the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela, which take in the abbey of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert and the abbey church of Saint-Gilles. A short trip over the border in to Spain will take you to Figueres where you can visit the famous Dail museum and the region is famous for it's great painters like Matisse and Picasso who once found inspiration in the beauty and light of ports such as Collioure, Banyuls, Port-Vendres and Cerbère.
    Perpignan, with it’s strong Catalan influence is a 20 minute drive away where you will find a maze of chiq boutiques and busy pavement bars, cafés and restaurants.
    The local culture is brought to life in carnivals and festivals, such as the traditional celebrations of the bull in the nearby Catalan towns and villages, the fishermen’s festivals at Gruissan, Sète and Bouzigues; and traditional maritime jousting tournaments at Sète and Mèze. During July and August music festivals are held in most towns and villages.
    Languedoc is an exciting region to visit at any time of the year. The climate is warm and sunny with over 300 days of sunshine each year.
